Ossur Rebound PCL Custom Knee Brace
The Rebound PCL is the first brace designed to apply a physiologically correct, dynamic force, optimum for rehabilitation of PCL ligament. Insufficient healing after a PCL rupture can lead to significant pathologies, such as, chronic knee pain or knee OA. Read more about our Custom Knee brace options, advice, and expert fitting.
The Rebound PCL is the first brace designed to apply a physiologically correct, dynamic force, optimum for rehabilitation of PCL ligament. Insufficient healing after a PCL rupture can lead to significant pathologies, such as, chronic knee pain or knee OA.
Unlike the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), the PCL has the intrinsic ability to heal and regain functionality after injury. Physiologically correct positioning of the PCL during conservative or post-surgical rehabilitation is important, as the PCL experiences variable tensile forces during knee flexion, and healing of the PCL in an elongated position can lead to chronic instability and disability. Insufficient healing after a PCL rupture leads to significant pathologies, such as chronic anterior knee pain or knee osteoarthritis.
The Rebound PCL applies a physiologically correct dynamic force to the PCL during rehabilitation. The dynamic load on the tibia is generated by applying an anterior directed dynamic force on the calf area, and opposing counterforces on the anterior aspect of the leg.
Key Features:
- The Dynamic Tension System™ (DTS) is designed to facilitate healing by increasing the load on the tibia as the knee goes through flexion, and providing an anterior drawer force necessary to decrease load on the healing posterior cruciate ligament (PCL).
- Three shear knob options permit customisation of the biomechanically correct posterior tibial load for each patient, and allow for adjustment, e.g. in case of swelling.
- A polycentric hinge with extension and flexion stops allows for range of motion adjustment.
- Lightweight brace with proprietary Sensil® silicone calf liner and doeskin thigh liner to reduce migration, while providing comfort to the user.
- Posterior frame for optimised support, with open anterior for ease of donning/doffing.
Indications for Use:
Designed to help optimise the healing process following posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) ruptures, both during functional (non-surgical) and post-surgical rehabilitation.
Features and Benefits:
- The Dynamic Tension System (DTS) is designed to increase the load on the tibia as the knee goes through flexion providing an Anterior Drawer force necessary to decrease load on the PCL to allow it to heal
- The Rebound PCL allows for specific load adaptation (1.8, 3.2, or 4.5kgs) according to the patient’s individual anatomy and rehabilitation related requirements
- The specially designed Anti-migration Straps (AMS) reduces migration and provides comfort to the patient while ensuring that the brace stays in the correct position during wear.
The Rebound PCL is custom made and requires measurements that are taken by our brace fitter. Read more about our Custom Knee brace options, advice, and expert fitting.
