Orliman Paediatric Tibiofemoral Derotator Support

The tibiofemoral derotator is composed of a belt and unidirectional elastic straps; these straps incorporate silicone beads on the inner side with anatomical adherence that perform a spiral-shaped traction from the medial part of the foot to the waist, rotating the tibia, femur and hip in the direction to be corrected, in order to provide greater joint stability and greater proprioception of the body scheme, thus obtaining correct alignment of the lower limbs.

FITTING INSTRUCTIONS:

For best therapeutic results considering different pathologies and to extend the useful life of the product, it is essential to choose the correct size for each patient or user. Excessive compression may be intolerable; adjusting the compression to be firm yet comfortable is recommended. If the product must be adapted, any such adjustments must be done by an orthopaedic specialist or healthcare professional legally certified to do so who must make sure the end user or person responsible for fitting the product properly understands how it works and should be used.

When fitting the product, you must adhere to the following instructions: Fit the belt around the patient’s pelvic area, back and abdomen. Attach the elastic strap to the medial part of the foot and apply traction in the opposite direction to the incorrect rotation. Then, wrap the strap spirally in an upward direction around the lower leg and thigh, up to the hip, before fastening the end diagonally across the back of the belt. Tighten the straps well to achieve the desired rotation. The elastic straps provide a gradient of tension and elasticity that controls the traction and rotation of the tibia and femur according to the needs of the patient and the degree of correction required. The elastic straps for models OP1173 and OP1174R/L are designed to correct the internal rotation of the left and/or right leg. If external rotation is required, simply swap over the left and right straps.
